Jacob discovered a strange principle at the watering troughs: what the flocks gazed upon while they conceived, they reproduced. What you look at is feeding your soul, and what feeds your soul is shaping your identity. Guard your eyes the way you would guard an inheritance, because that is exactly what they are shaping.

I feed my soul on what is true and holy. I guard what I look at, because I am becoming what I behold.
