The Pharisees saw hungry disciples and found a broken rule. Jesus saw people in need and revealed the Lord who stood among them. It is possible to protect a religious interpretation so fiercely that you miss the heart of God standing in front of you.
Truth never requires you to become careless with Scripture. It requires you to read Scripture in the light of Christ. Keep the order, but do not lose mercy. Honour the principle, but do not use it to ignore the person Jesus came to restore.
I will not miss Jesus while keeping the rules. His truth, mercy, and living purpose will govern my understanding.
