Denial brings you to the one place most people spend their whole lives avoiding: an honest look at yourself. Tomorrow you will be the product of the decision you make today. The right choice will cost you: maybe a friendship, a convenience, something you are holding onto only because it is easy.
Look five years ahead. Look ten. Ask what the real consequence of this convenience is, before you take it.
