Regret looks backward and feels pain. Repentance turns. It changes the agreement beneath the action and then gives the body a new direction.
Tears may accompany repentance, but tears are not its proof. Look for the turn: the call made, the access removed, the truth confessed, the restitution begun, the pattern interrupted. Refreshing meets a life that is facing another way.
I do more than regret; I turn. My mind, direction, and conduct are coming into agreement with God.
