You have spent so much energy managing how the story looks that the person inside the story has been left unattended. Explanation after explanation may repair an image while your soul remains exhausted.
Let people misunderstand what truth and obedience require them to misunderstand. Clarify where love calls for it, but stop living as the public-relations officer of your own existence. Christ did not ask you to win every opinion.
